Recycled Remnants
There isn’t much that goes to waste over at the Tribal Textiles workshop. We are constantly looking at ways of reusing or eliminating anything that would ordinarily be thrown into landfill.
Our steps, although may seem small, create a huge difference in the environment around us. Just a few of the things to mention are; removing one-use plastic shop bags and replacing them with recycled mealie-meal bags. Encouraging the use of flasks to be used for takeaway coffee over at our Tribe coffee shop. And of course, anyone familiar with Tribal Textiles will know that we even opened our own glass recycling workshop, to tackle the glass waste from local lodges.
Looking at our cutting floor, our big project last year was to take a look at what we could do with the offcuts of fabric. Although we put lot of effort into carefully organising pattern pieces, keeping waste at a minimum. Unfortunately, there will always be pieces remaining. But, fortunately for you, we have kept these offcuts and we can now happily introduce our latest addition to the Tribal Textiles online store. Proving very popular in-store last year, we have new Recycled Remnants packs to purchase.
Our bundles of recycled remnants feature a variety of cuts from our hand-starched, painted or screen printed fabrics. All 100% cotton and straight from the Tribal Textiles workshop. An absolute must-have amongst any crafters supplies. Fabric remnants are a fantastic use for a variety of hand-craft projects. From quilting, to patchwork and applique. Perfect for a little quarantine time!
If you need a little Inspiration, we have created our own Pinterest Recycling Remnants board. Why not try out one of these ideas. The project possibilities are endless! A craft project made with little pieces of Africa.
Remnants come in packs of 10, small-cuts measuring 10 x 15 cm and larger are 30 x 30cm. Tied with the selvedge of fabric meterage and packaged with recycled Banana Paper.
Ready for your sewing projects, fabric bundles for sale are now available on our online store. Don't forget to tag us on Facebook or Instagram with your projects, we would love to see what you create.
