At Tribal Textiles we produce unique hand-painted textiles in the heart of the African bush. Our textiles mix traditional African art with contemporary designs, drawing inspiration from the stunning Zambian wildlife and surroundings. Our workshop is based in Mfuwe in the South Luangwa Valley; we provide sustainable employment, fair wages, training and a good working environment for over 100 local Zambian men and women - invaluable in an area of Zambia where jobs are scarce. It goes without saying that the life-blood of Tribal Textiles is our staff and when you buy one of our pieces it has been hand-drawn, -painted and -sewn by one of our hugely talented staff members.
We also actively support the local community: we co-founded the local community school, Malimba, which currently educates more than 500 children. And we have teamed up with the local orphanage, Hanada, to create the packaging bags for your online purchases - so part of our shipping costs will go directly to supporting children in our local area. If you’d like to find out more about us or our community projects please visit our about us page.
We hope you enjoy shopping on our site. Not all our products are available to buy online just yet, so if you can’t find what you are looking for, one of our stockists may be able to help; please visit our stockists page on our main website to find a stockist near you. Alternatively, please contact us if there is a specific item you want - we may be able to help.
PS - Don't forget: if you're visiting Zambia please stop by our workshop where we have a shop with our full range of products and you can even make your own hand-painted cushion cover!
