Ruben Kaleya
Operations Manager
Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role within the company?
Hi there! My name is Reuben Kaleya, and I'm originally from Chama District. I moved to Mfuwe in 2015 and joined Biocarbon Partners Limited, a conservation company. Here I was working as a storeman and lattelry Community Engagement Officer then manager.
I've learned so much about engaging with communities and managing projects. I've had the chance to lead and this has set me up to deal with the every day stresses of running the large operations of Tribal Textiles!
I was also involved in overseeing the implementation of community development projects and collaborating with stakeholders to make sure we're meeting the needs of the community. My experience in community engagement has given me valuable skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving, which I've used to build strong relationships with customers, clients and within the operational side of Tribal Textiles.
Inspiring Colleagues
positive working
Have any colleagues stood out to you?
Emmanuel, Mwamba, and Kalangwa have all been amazing examples for me to follow by.
Emmanuel has shown such an extra-ordinary attention to detail that I aspire to achieve. Meanwhile, Mwamba our head of the glass workshop performs all tasks no matter how big or small with a smile on his face. His unrivalled happy attitude is something I idolise.
Finally, Kalangwa has been an invaluable asset since day one. She has always extended a helping hand and was an essential part of my learning experience!
I am truly grateful for the contributions and lessons each of these individuals have taught me during my time here at Tribal Textiles!
Stand Out Moments
FUNNY MEMORIES
How would you describe Tribal Textiles?
At Tribal Textiles our workshop is continually filled with laughter and smiling which is such an essential part of our daily routine.
Although originally working with individuals who I didn't previously know, I am now proud to say that all of my colleagues are now firm friends.
I have loved having to work so closely with my friends and we have had some hilarious moments dealing with the realities of running a company in remote Zambia, with lots of creepy crawlies!!
