Job Openings

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2025

From marketing, to design, to merchandising ... We are always on the hunt for interns for their fresh input and enthusiastic ideas here at Tribal Textiles.

Dates
A minimum of three months, as working permits run for 3 months at a time in Zambia.
We are flexible on dates, however we do close for the rains between Dec - March.

Design / Marketing Interns
Working alongside the design & production manager Jennifer and the Tribal workshop team. There is a spectrum of creativity here from recycled glass, artisan weaving, to our standard batik textiles. Interns tend to have a play in each department and then concentrate on what interests them the most.
Working five days per week 7am – 4.30pm.

Interns also work alongside the sales & Retail managers - Kalangwa and Nsbila. Helping to marhandise the Tribal store.
Working five days per week 7.30am – 5pm.

Who You Are
• You are comfortable with remote living, as we are located in the Zambian bush. It would suit a character who is ok without home comforts, simple living and a lack of signal!

• You love nature and being outdoors. The area Tribal Textiles is based in is very wild, there is a whole lot of wildlife from bugs to snakes. The housing plot is located further out from the national park.

• You are adaptable, sometimes the power cuts out, sometimes things break. It’s key to go with the flow here and adapt to whatever bush life throws at you!

• You have a keen interest in sustainability and conservation, as this is part of our ethos.

• You can drive! Either manual or automatic, we have two company cars and unfortunately it’s the only way to get around here. Don’t worry... there’s only one road, you can’t get lost!

Accommodation
We provide housing for you to stay in on our housing plot in Mfuwe. The houses come fully equipped with kitchen appliances, cutlery etc, bed linen, towels. etc.

Living Costs / Visa / Flights
You are given a monthly living allowance of $200. There are local shops to buy food and general goods from. The cost of living here is quite low.
We organise / cover permit costs - about $800-$1000 depending on the exchange rate.
We would expect the intern to cover the costs of their own flights into Mfuwe. Flights stop at Lusaka, and then hop on a Proflight flight to Mfuwe. Airlines to Lusaka include Qatar, Emirates, Kenya Airways, Rwandair and Ethiopian.
