Crafted by the artisans from the Luangwa Artisan Collective, this one-of-a-kind placemat is made from natural grass that surrounds our local community here in Zambia. Handwoven and modern, these placemats effortlessly complement any table setting.
The artisans from Luangwa Artisan Collective are independent artisans that work out from Tribal Textiles, and all sale proceeds go directly to them and their families. We train those local artists in product development and business skills such as merchandising, accounting and pricing. We work with them to create beautiful products and give them access to local and international wholesale markets. We built for them an all-weather work and market place on Tribal Textiles ground, where they can sell to visitors.
While the design and technique are the same, each artisan has his own way of weaving, making each piece unique in its own special way.

The best woven placemats that I have ever had! Perfect size, and my dinner plates fit on them beautifully. Love the varying shades of grasses used to make them. The mats are used all the time!!!
The are wonderful! Gloriously textured, beautifully crafted and a generous size!
Lovely - so nice I don't want to use them. Much bigger than I expected and plates don't fall off the edge, as they do with my small square ones.
